Andy Serkis is an English Actor and director born on 20 April 1964, In Ruislip, Middlesex, England, United Kingdom.

Family Background:

He is the son of Clement Serkis, an American doctor and his wife Lylie Serkis, British Teacher. He has four siblings.

Personal Life:

In July 2002, He married Actress Lorraine Ashbourne. They have three children Ruby, Sonny, and Louis.


He had attended the St Benedict’s School in London. Then he went on to study visual arts at the University of Lancaster.


He made his acting debut and play in “Gotcha” directed by Barrie Keeffe. That had been a turning point in his life as he discovered his true passion for acting. After completing his education, he had started his acting career at Duke’s Playhouse in order to get his Equity card, On receiving the card, He had performed in multiple plays under the tutelage of Jonathan Petherbridge. In 1989, He got his first major theater role in “Macbeth”. Andy Serkis had given his best breathtaking performance at the Royal Court Theatre in London with his unique Perception of ‘The Fool’ in the adaptation of Shakespeare’s play named ‘King Lear’ in 1990. While continuing his theaters work in the 1990s, He had appeared in several Tv shows. Andy Serkis had played the role of Dean Platt and Alex Rackin in ‘The Bill’. He had then portrayed Pyotr in the series of ‘Grushko’, and had got to play reappearing the role of Tom in crime series, ‘Finney’, in 1994. In 2002, He performed his groundbreaking role in the film ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers’ won him several awards and nominations. He repeated this feat in 2003 for ‘The Return of the King’. In 2005, He got the critical acclaim for his performance in the movie ‘King Kong’. He also gave his voice to the character Lumpy in ‘King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie’. In 2015, He got more success when he had played the role of Supreme leader Snoke in ‘Star War: The Force Awakens’. On October 27, 2017, He had made his first directorial debut film named “Breathe”, through his production company, ‘The Imaginarium Studios’. He also working on the second directional film “The Jungle Book”.
