He was born to Coy Luther Perry Jr. and Ann Bennett. His father was a steelworker while his mother took care of their home and children. He has a brother, Thomas, and also two sisters, Amy and Emily.
In 1993, He had married model Rachel Minnie Sharp. They had one son and one daughter. The couple had divorced in 2003.
