He is born to Robert Williams and Laurie Williams. He had two elder half brothers. His father had worked as a Senior executive at Ford Motor Company while his mother had been a former model. He had been of mixed ancestry.
He married thrice. In 1978, He married Valerie Velardi, with her, had one son. In 1989, He married Marsha Garces. They have two children. 2011, He married graphic designer Susan Schneider.
